After putting on a fantastic show for all of you, we weren’t ready to call it quits yet. We had one more full day of taiko filled with performances and workshops before the end of the season.
Only a week after the concert we were asked to open at the Burke Centre Festival. Even though it was an early gig, it was still pretty hot and humid. Luckily we were able to cool off with the mini air conditioner they had in their changing tent afterwards.
Not too long after our last performance, we headed back to Ekoji for our two workshops. Our childrens workshop welcomed three siblings: Katya, Miya, and Ken. We had a blast playing with them and hope to see them around again.
Afterwards, we held our annual adult workshop. We managed to fill up all seven of our chuudaiko for a full house workshop. We even welcomed some visitors from Hawaii. The annual adult workshop went over the taiko basics such as forms, drills, hits, and how to play Renshu.
And to wrap up our day, after the adult workshop we had two workshop-goers audition for our training program. Congratulations Jeff and Carla! We are looking forward to working with them this season and we hope to see you all soon!
