Wow, what a night! We're still on cloud nine here at Nen Daiko after our 20th Anniversary Concert: In Gratitude. We really can't thank everyone enough who helped make the show a reality: the volunteers, the backstage staff, our guest MCs and performers, and the audience who packed the house. But what happened behind the scenes that day leading up to the show? Here is a sneak peak at what we were up to getting ready.
We started bright and early and headed to the Synetic Theater in Crystal City, Virginia. We unloaded our equipment and built the riser in record time, while setting up the lobby out front. It was truly a team effort!
Here are some shots of the company meeting with our Stage Manager Mark H. Rooney and Assistant Stage manager Kristen Koyama to go over the schedule for the day.
We had a very fast paced tech rehearsal to spike the location of our drums and make sure the lighting was just right.
And the group pieces were practiced together for the very first time! It was so special to have Soh Daiko and Hoh Daiko there with us along with Beth Fujishige (founder of Nen Daiko) and Alan Okada (founding member of Soh Daiko) to MC.
Almost ready for the big show!
We had such a blast playing for you! Thank you so much for making it such a memorable 20th Anniversary!!!
